What are the implications of this increase for individuals and companies wishing to invest in photovoltaic solar panels?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does the green certificate mechanism work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"825\" height=\"293\" src=\"https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/certificat_vert_bruxelles_electricite-verte.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3594\" srcset=\"https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/certificat_vert_bruxelles_electricite-verte.webp 825w, https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/certificat_vert_bruxelles_electricite-verte-300x107.webp 300w, https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/certificat_vert_bruxelles_electricite-verte-768x273.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 825px) 100vw, 825px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p><strong>The green certificate system supports the production of green electricity<\/strong>. Owners of photovoltaic systems receive CVs for 10 years for each MWh of electricity produced (1,000 kWh). These CVs can then be sold, which represents a not inconsiderable income, in addition to savings on consumption and the resale of injected electricity! The aim of the system is to help investors recoup the cost of their installation within a <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brugel.brussels\/themes\/energies-renouvelables-11\/mecanisme-des-certificats-verts-35\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">maximum of 7 years<\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"442\" src=\"https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/valorisation_production-1024x442.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3604\" style=\"aspect-ratio:2.3146067415730336;width:374px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/valorisation_production-1024x442.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/valorisation_production-300x130.jpg 300w, https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/valorisation_production-768x332.jpg 768w, https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/valorisation_production-1536x664.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/valorisation_production-2048x885.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The number of CVs granted for each MWh of electricity produced is determined by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brugel.brussels\/themes\/energies-renouvelables-11\/mecanisme-des-certificats-verts-35\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\n  <em>BRUGEL<\/em>\n<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This rate is recalculated each year according to changes in the following parameters:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the <strong>price of PV systems <\/strong>rises, the <strong>CV<\/strong> rate <strong>increases<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the <strong>price of electricity<\/strong> rises, the <strong>CV<\/strong> rate <strong>falls<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If <strong>plant productivity <\/strong>increases, the <strong>CV<\/strong> rate <strong>decreases<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the <strong>sale price of green certificates<\/strong> increases, the <strong>CV<\/strong> rate <strong>decreases<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The recent rise in the green certificate award rate is essentially linked to the increase in the price of installations and the reduction in the resale price of CVs.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2022, <strong>plant prices have risen sharply due to the consequences of Russia&#8217;s invasion of the Ukraine,<\/strong> combined with the extension of anti-Covid measures in Asia, which has pushed up the CV rate. However, since the end of the summer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pv-magazine.fr\/2023\/10\/03\/que-veut-dire-la-nouvelle-baisse-de-prix-des-modules-solaires-photovoltaiques\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\n  <em>panel prices have fallen to an all-time low<\/em>\n<\/a> but this has not yet been reflected in the CV rate!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, due to the war in Ukraine, <strong>the price of electricity reached record highs last year<\/strong>, making investment in a PV plant naturally more profitable and thus, conversely, reducing the CV rate. We note that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.creg.be\/fr\/professionnels\/fonctionnement-et-monitoring-du-marche\/evolution-prix-de-lenergie-belgique-et-pays\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\n  <em>the price of electricity has fallen since then<\/em>\n<\/a>but still at a relatively high level (around \u20ac0.35\/kWh for private customers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-style-default\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"283\" src=\"https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/daria-volkova-qhlmymt14Ys-unsplash-1024x283.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3631\" srcset=\"https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/daria-volkova-qhlmymt14Ys-unsplash-1024x283.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/daria-volkova-qhlmymt14Ys-unsplash-300x83.jpg 300w, https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/daria-volkova-qhlmymt14Ys-unsplash-768x212.jpg 768w, https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/daria-volkova-qhlmymt14Ys-unsplash-1536x425.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/soltis.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/daria-volkova-qhlmymt14Ys-unsplash.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>The productivity of PV installations corresponds to the energy produced (in kWh) by each kWp installed.<strong> Productivity is tending to increase as the performance of panels and inverters improves, as<\/strong> the quality of installation and maintenance improves, and as the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.renouvelle.be\/fr\/ensoleillement-record-en-belgique-en-2018-combien-produiront-les-panneaux-solaires\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> amount of annual sunshine<\/a> in <\/em>Belgium <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.renouvelle.be\/fr\/ensoleillement-record-en-belgique-en-2018-combien-produiront-les-panneaux-solaires\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> increases<\/a> <\/em>, due to the reduction in air pollution (good news) and global warming (bad news). All this has the effect of reducing the CV rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally,<strong> <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brugel.brussels\/themes\/energies-renouvelables-11\/vendre-les-certificats-verts-38\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\n  <em>\n    <strong>the price of green certificates<\/strong>\n  <\/em>\n<\/a> <strong>varies according to supply and demand on the market<\/strong>: producers sell their CVs to suppliers, who are obliged to purchase a certain quota. However, since 2022, the number of PV installations has risen sharply and the quantity of CVs on the Brussels market has exploded. At the same time, electricity consumption<em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtbf.be\/article\/les-petits-gestes-quotidiens-deconomie-ont-paye-la-consommation-denergie-des-belges-a-recule-a-son-plus-bas-niveau-depuis-20-ans-11222826\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">electricity consumption has fallen sharply<\/a><\/em> as citizens and businesses were forced to adapt their uses (which is good news). Low supply and high demand&#8230; which is why the average price of CVs is now close to the minimum price of \u20ac65\/CV (instead of \u20ac90\/CV at the start of 2022!). This has the effect of increasing the CV rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Higher CV rates and lower installation prices: a winning combination&#8230; thanks to the unlimited validity of CVs!<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Investing in a photovoltaic system is even more attractive today than it was just a few months ago! The green certificate rate is guaranteed for 10 years from commissioning. At the moment, panel prices are at an all-time low. What&#8217;s more, despite having fallen since the start of the year, electricity prices remained relatively high today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Here are the changes in the CV rate for installations of less than 36 kWp since October 13, 2023:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><strong>From 1.9 to 2.055 CV\/MWh<\/strong> for systems from 0 to 5 kWp  <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>From 1.8 to 1.953 CV\/MWh for systems between 5 and 36 kWp<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<cite>Source <em>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brugel.brussels\/themes\/energies-renouvelables-11\/mecanisme-des-certificats-verts-35\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.brugel.brussels\/themes\/energies-renouvelables-11\/mecanisme-des-certificats-verts-35<\/a><\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Yes, but the price of green certificates is low too!&#8221;<br\/>In fact, the price of CVs is also at rock bottom, which limits the profitability of the investment. However, the <strong>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brugel.brussels\/themes\/energies-renouvelables-11\/octroi-de-vos-certificats-verts-504\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\n    <em>the validity of green certificates is unlimited<\/em>\n  <\/a>\n<\/strong>. The green certificates produced from now on at an attractive rate can be resold when the price of CVs rises, while already making it possible to save energy thanks to a PV installation at a &#8220;floor&#8221; price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the impact of a 5 kWp photovoltaic installation (residential)?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The prices given here are indicative.
